There are many Google searches for dust collector and ash vacuum reviews, but there is no comprehensive test of the Whirlwind. Dajana approached us a year ago. She asked if it was possible to use Whirlwind to vacuum ash and charcoal from the stove and boiler.
Whirlwind is a versatile tool used to remove ash, sand, and dust from various surfaces, including pellet stoves. It is possible to vacuum ash from a wood-burning stove, but there are some important considerations outlined in this article.
The results are shown here. Remember to sort out large pieces of charcoal that might otherwise get stuck in the hose. Instead of disposing of them, burn the wood in your fireplace to utilize the fuel energy. Dajana suctions up fine ash, but Whirlwind filters out over 99% before the ash reaches the hoover. For best results, vacuum gently and let some air and ash enter the hose to maintain uninterrupted airflow.

In 2008, a shipment of Whirlwind was sent to the US in a container. However, while it was in the middle of the Atlantic, the financial crisis occurred. It is unclear what happened next, but the product eventually became available on Amazon and through mail order. We came across two reviews of the product on Amazon.

If you vacuum up one kilo of ash, only ten grams will be collected by the vacuum cleaner and trapped in the Hepa filter. However, each subsequent round of vacuuming will result in more and more ash getting stuck in the filter. After three kilos of ash, the filter is likely to be completely clogged, causing reduced airflow. However, if your vacuum cleaner has a bag, the ash will be stopped by the large textile surface of the bag, and only a small percentage will reach the Hepa filter, similar to when you vacuum the floor in your home.
It’s wonderful to see that even after more than a decade, the Whirlwind we sent in 2008 still holds its charm and significance, as illustrated in his review.
